Only 2.8% of people in the U.S. know sign language, leaving many deaf individuals facing daily communication challenges. Initially, we considered a “Sign Language Glove” to translate hand gestures into words, but it was too bulky and impractical. Instead, we developed smart glasses that convert sign language into speech. A built-in camera records hand gestures and sends the video to an app, which translates the signs into words. The glasses then speak the words aloud, making communication more seamless and accessible.
