We live in Colorado, surrounded by mountains, and often encounter wildlife on roads, such as deer, rabbits, coyotes, and skunks. Sadly, we frequently see injured animals, which motivated us to tackle this issue. Current solutions, such as wildlife crossings, fencing, and driver awareness campaigns, help but are insufficient, as up to two million wildlife collisions occur annually. Our solution integrates advanced technologies like infrasound sensors, cameras, and thermal imaging to detect wildlife on roads. This device, mounted on the roadside and at the front of a vehicle like a dashcam, identifies animals and alerts drivers with a sound. The combination of technologies ensures early detection, giving drivers enough time to stop and avoid collisions. By reducing accidents, our invention aims to protect wildlife and humans, minimize material damage, and make roads safer. We hope this device can significantly lower collisions and save countless lives.
