Targeted Two-Drug Combo Therapy for Lupus

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. The fact that there is no cure for the disease is mostly due to the cause of lupus being unknown. However, in a recent study, attention was directed towards T cells, which play active roles in the onset of autoantibody production in lupus. The study involved the combination of two drugs for the normalization of T cell metabolism. We chose to design a future technology that would enhance the effects of this two-drug combo. Our targeted therapy involving monoclonal antibodies aids in the targeting and killing of malignant cells. The addition of monoclonal antibodies with the two-drug combo would target T cells and provide more effective access for the two-drug combo therapy to normalize T cell metabolism and potentially cure lupus.
